Music has always been a part of my family. When I wasn't even born yet my mom was 7 months pregnant playing drums for my dad's band. My dad and my uncle Rod continued playing in their own successful bands and also together from time to time throughout the years. My dad always had a music studio where i could play and record. Guitars, bass and Keyboards laying around. I was always encouraged to be creative and was never told not to do something a certain way. I remember all the times I got to help my dad record the band in a dusty bar..I was maybe 15? I guess my point is.. there was never a time in my life where music wasn't a "thing". It seemed like everyone in my immediate family and many other relatives were in bands or were just musical.
Even though I grew up listening to the best music -- The Beatles, classic rock, pop.. whatever -- it wasn't until I finally heard "The Wall" by Pink Floyd that.... something changed in my head. It wasn't just the music... It was the art work...and the eerie trumpets in the background. All of a sudden, I felt like there was something that I didn't know about music. From then on I had a different aspect about music. I had the overwhelming feeling that there were all these unknown chords... songs out there "in the ether" drawing someone like me to reach out and grab them and bring them to life. As I started writing songs I found this to be even more true.
